Water monitoring
The monitoring of the water quality in Republic of Serbia is performed according to Regulations, and the systematic water quality-monitoring Program. According to Law on water (“Sluzbeni glasnik RS”, br. 46/91, 53/93, 67/93, 48/94 i 54/96) Republic Hydro meteorological Service is obligated of perform systematic monitoring of surface (river, reservoir, lake, ...) and groundwater on the territory of RS. Following Law on water Government RS periodically releases Program for systematic water quality research (annually). It gives details about stations, dynamics, parameters(66) and mode of reporting on water state.
Systematic monitoring of surface and ground waters quality includes:
Sampling, physical, chemical, biological, bacteriological and radiological water analyses at:
rivers and channels,
accumulations,
first category sources and
ground water
Sampling and chemical analyses of
river sediment and silt in
accumulations
Analysis and assessment of water quality status
Water quality control during hazardous pollutions
Systematic water quality monitoring is carried out in the network of hydrological stations. Complex chemical and biological analysis, as well as identification of hazardous substances in water is carried out central lab of RHMS and
laboratory of RHMS in Novi Sad.
On the base of processed and systematized data in the Data Base of the Hydrological Information System and upon the request of our users we make the reports on water quality.
Reports on water quality are submitted annually to: Ministry of agriculture, forestry and water management, Ministry of science and natural protection, Ministry of health, Public company for water management “ Srbijavode”, Water managment centers “Dunav”, “Sava” and “Morava”.
Water quality monitoring is a dynamic process which is developing simultaneously with the state of the art of knowledge about dangerous substances and their movement through the hydrosphere and of course with the respect to the national and EU legislation.
